As one of the main revenue generating arms of the Association, the laboratories receive full support from the other departments to execute their tasks. Responsibilities of all personnel are defined in their job descriptions. Reporting structures are illustrated in the organograms given as Annexures 1-5 at the end of this policy document.
To ensure impartiality between the Quality Assurance and Operations Departments, officer(s) responsible for testing at the Mutare Laboratory fall under the Engineering Division whilst the rest of the Mutare Division which predominantly caries out inspections, reports to the Director Quality Assurance. The Bulawayo Division reports to the Director Operations but inspector(s)/auditor(s) responsible for all inspections/auditing activities fall under the Quality Assurance Department. The Director Operations is impartial and independent of certification activities.
The Director Operations has been appointed as Quality Manager (QM) for the Technical Services Divisions. Each manager in the technical services divisions has been appointed Technical Manager (TM) in their respective divisions and are authorized to appoint other senior staff to act in their positions as deputies when they are absent. The QM can appoint any one of the TM's to act in his/her position with full authority when he/she is unavailable.
